We’re excited to share that Sinew Center for Integrative Medicine is now accepting UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and VA Community Care referrals for acupuncture. This makes it easier for more patients in Minneapolis to access high-quality, personalized care for pain, stress, and whole-body support.
What this means for patients
If you have UnitedHealthcare, your acupuncture benefits may be included under your plan, depending on your specific coverage. Many UHC commercial plans cover acupuncture for medically necessary services, and benefits often include a set number of visits per year.
If you are a veteran receiving care through the VA, acupuncture may be available through VA Community Care when it is clinically appropriate and authorized by the VA care team. VA acupuncture is part of the broader Whole Health and Community Care system for eligible veterans.

At Sinew Center, acupuncture can be a supportive option for a wide range of concerns, including chronic pain, stress, tension, headaches, and other symptoms that affect daily life. We also have a strong clinical focus on women’s health, including perimenopause and hormonal transitions, as well as recovery and performance support for active adults.
Insurance and next steps
Because every insurance plan and authorization is different, we recommend contacting us before your first visit so we can help verify benefits and explain the process. For VA Community Care patients, a referral and authorization are required before treatment can begin.
