Payment, Insurance and Superbills at Sinew Center:
We are in-network with UnitedHealthcare and accept VA Community Care benefits. We are actively credentialing with Medica and expect to be in-network by late July 2026. Patients with out-of-network acupuncture benefits are welcome — we gladly provide a Superbill upon request.
Do You Take Insurance?
Yes. We are currently in-network with UnitedHealthCare and VA Community Care.
Co-pays (if applicable) and all out-of-network payments are due at the time of your visit.
We are actively working to credential with Medica, Cigna and Aetna. we anticipate accepting Medica by late July 2026, with additional insurance partnerships to follow.
If you have insurance with out-of-network acupuncture benefits, you may be able to submit for reimbursement after your visit using a superbill.
If you are seeking care through no-fault auto insurance or workers’ compensation, please contact the clinic before scheduling your appointment so we can best direct you to the appropriate resources.
What Is a Superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt we provide at Sinew Center that gives your insurance company everything it needs to review an out-of-network acupuncture claim — including diagnosis codes, treatment information, and visit details.
It does not guarantee reimbursement, but it gives your insurance company the proper documentation to evaluate your request.
You submit the superbill directly to your insurance provider after your visit — we’ll make sure you leave with everything you need.
HSA/FSA Information
At Sinew Center, we gladly accept HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards as payment for your acupuncture treatments. These are a great option for our self-pay patients, as they allow you to use pre-tax dollars toward your care — and acupuncture qualifies.
Not every plan includes an HSA or FSA, so we recommend checking with your plan administrator to confirm your benefits before your visit.
Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
We recommend calling your insurance company before scheduling your first appointment and asking the following questions:
– Do I have out-of-network acupuncture benefits?
– How many acupuncture treatments are covered per year?
– What is my acupuncture-specific copay? (This may differ from other specialist copays.)
– Do I need to meet my deductible before I am eligible for out-of-network reimbursement?
– Are only certain conditions or diagnoses covered for acupuncture?
– How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?
